V-Fold

Processes: Thickening/Dewatering (Belt Filter Press)

The chemical treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater produces wet sludge/slurry. For relatively low volume sludge/slurry dewatering applications, VFold offers its clients it's folding belt press.

The VFold is constructed with ease of operation in mind.  It's unique design characteristics have produced a system that offers reliable and consistent treatment results that are extremely forgiving of process upsets. It utilizes a single filter belt which folds vertically to form a cavity which contains the feed slurry. Conditioned slurry is fed into the cavity by means of pump or by gravity. The feed cavity serves as an initial dewatering zone permitting drainage of a large percent of free liquids. As the slow moving belt progresses, the cavity closes moving the sludge through a series of compression rollers which apply a combination of pressure and shear to the solids. Liquid is driven from the sludge, producing a filter cake. The cake is scraped from the filter belt and deposited into a dumpster for disposal to landfill or to a composting facility. Minimal maintenance is required as the single filter belt is self-tracking and slow moving. Manual or automated control packages are available.

The VFold folding belt press is excellent for dewatering DAF underflow sludge. Its capital cost is extremely affordable. It typically costs 50% less than a conventional belt press of identical capacity. VFold Inc. also offers a rotary drum thickener (RDT) that is built to fit on top of the VFold folding belt press (but could be used as a stand-alone unit). The RDT handles solid-liquid load of less than 1% and allows the VFold to run at an increased throughput.
