In Central Virginia, a customer faced a unique challenge: three separate plants with outdated infrastructure, each requiring its own aeration project.
Previously managed by developers, these plants were overdue for modernization. Vand Solutions stepped in to streamline the process, delivering a comprehensive solution to replace six blowers across the three locations.
Vand Solutions worked with the client to purchase a new blower, demolish the existing blower, install and start up the new blower, and design a new pipe configuration that would allow for outdoor installation on a new equipment pad. This was an emergency situation that came up while we were working with the client at two other plants. Kaeser had a stock blower package and control panel that was used to get the customer up and running. The new header design allowed for the addition of a second blower and new piping/tanks/DAF that will be installed in 2026-2027.
To achieve this, Vand Solutions partnered with industry leaders:
The team leveraged their expertise to meet each plant’s unique needs, ensuring efficient design, seamless installation, and system integration.
This WWTP upgraded to fine bubble diffusers for its ENR. Prior to the upgrade their plant was equipped with four 100hp Kaeser lobe blowers that were deemed oversized after the fine bubble aeration upgrade, and the machines were 20 years old. Most of the time one of their 100hp machines did not provide enough air and two blowers were too much air. They are now able to provide full treatment with a SINGLE 50hp screw blower providing between 600-1000scfm.
Each of the three plants had distinct control strategies and technologies. Vand Solutions’ factory-trained technicians tailored their approach to accommodate these differences.
From design to installation, their focus was on creating solutions that aligned with each facility’s specific requirements while anticipating future needs.
Despite the complexity of managing three projects simultaneously, all six blowers were delivered and operational within six months. Vand Solutions worked closely with plant operation staff from start to finish, ensuring clear communication and efficient execution.
The original blowers were noisy, inefficient, unreliable, and together were barely making enough air needed for adequate system operation. Vand Solutions worked together with the client to determine that this WWTP needed four new blowers, new VFDs, and new aeration piping. Vand supplied the Kaeser blowers and the complete stainless-steel header system designed by PB Equipment for this project. This included temporary piping to allow for a switchover between new and old equipment with no more than four hours without air for either of the two basins.
